Road to the trailhead had a ton of sketchy potholes. Probably not a good idea to go in a smaller car.
Trail was wet and muddy until you get close to the lake at the top, then it turns into packed/frozen snow. We had microspikes and had a ton of fun using them. There were people without them sliding on their butts down some of the sloped icy spots and it was kind of funny just striding past them on spikes.
There was a big tree down on the trail about half way up but it was easy to cross.
About 3/4 of the way up, the trail becomes a stream.
There are a few sketchy parts that are really wet/muddy that might give you trouble on the way down.
If you want to do this hike seriously just buy/bring your spikes their like $20, it makes the lake part way more fun/less stressful.
