I spent the weekend in a cabin at Steamboat Rock State Park. There were a couple of campers and all 3 cabins were full. It was great! I’ve done this as a day trip and I can tell you, it’s way better when you don’t have to sit in the car for 4 hours before and after the hike.
Blue sky and sunshine! No snow on the ground. It was in the 20s at night so the ground was frozen. Very little mud. We saw eagles by the lake and a couple of dozen deer up on top.
We started by looping the north end of the plateau, then up the steep trail to check out the south end. Made it back to camp for sunset by the lake.

Thanks for this...I finally copied you and rented a cabin here so I could spend the whole day exploring the Rock. Will be posting a report soon.

That’s awesome! I’ve been meaning to get back over there. The best New Year’s resolution I ever made was “camp or cabin once/month”. Time to book some more cabins!!
