my very late posting .. submitted: 26Jan2021
21Jul2020 ~11:00, Swee & i arrived at the Mt Rainier Sunrise Visitor Center .. the parking was almost full but we managed find a spot to park our vehicle. Then we went for a walk the Sunrise Rim Trail. No surprise it was congested with people. Also, there were tons of people on the other Trails .. people everywhere .. :)
To avoid the crowd, we went to the Sunrise Point parking. The parking was full too. But after waiting for a few minutes, a vehicle left and we got to park our vehicle. After which we hiked out/up to Dege Peak. Surprisingly, we were the only 2 on the Dege Peak Trail out to Dege Peak. And we had Dege Peak to ourselves (and the pesky bugs) for ~20 mins .. enjoyed the lovely views of Mt Rainier and the surrounding mountains, valley, clouds and blue sky. Its only when we were returning back to the Trailhead that we encountered (total) ~6 people on their way in.
The Dege Peak Trail is well-maintained and imho a relatively easy hike. It was bugs-free but for those pesky ones on Dege Peak.
Happy Trails Everyone!
