Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area

Back to one of my favorites for an unexpected sunset hike with the whole fam.

This time we parked at the middle fork parking lot and was glad I did to avoid that huge pothole just over the bridge, this didn’t add much to the hike and the kiddo loved the view of the river from the bridge. No scraping the bottom of my car either 🙌🏼
the parking lot was empty at our just before 4pm start, we passed no one on the trail.
The trail itself is in good condition. The downed trees we experienced a couple weeks ago were cleared already.
The ground is frozen but not icy until you reach the stairs which were pretty slick. About 3/4 of the way up at the last switchback, snow became constant, where the rest of the trail has a lot of clear spots, some areas were slippery. The top is compacted with snow, a little slick but nothing we couldn’t handle without spikes. We did put spikes on the kiddo at the top to be safe so he had no problem going down until the trail was clear. Sunset was beautiful, this is my favorite spot for an easy hike around that time. It began to snow as we hiked down and I imagine with the expected snow the next few days conditions will change as the previous report said.
