I've never ben to this trail before and was pleasantly surprised, especially since I am not a seasoned winter hiker. Hiked with my daughter (age 15) and dog. We arrived around 930 and ours was the only car in parking lot; didn't see any other hikers on the trail at all. Went to the falls through beautiful forest; falls were totally cool - not a ton of water, but lots of icicles and a steamy feel. The trail was covered in snow for the whole loop, up to our knees in parts near the falls. After passing the falls, the snow got a little deeper in short sections, but we didn't really need snowshoes or spikes - we just got snow in our boots. The trail was also more difficult to follow. The half after the falls back to Camp Sheppard was a bit of a trudge - not quite as pretty as the first half, but still nice. Next time we may got to the falls and then back the same way and try out the Moss Lake natural area.
