Ebey's Landing — Saturday, Mar. 6, 2021

Puget Sound and Islands > Whidbey Island

Wonderful hike on a sunny Sunday.  Arrived at upper parking lot 10am, got last parking spot.  Definitely will arrive earlier on such a nice weekend! When we returned 2:30 pm lot was full, and many cars parked along the road.  The lower lot was packed too. Lots of people out hiking, most masked but many not.  Also plenty of dogs, most on leash. The trail along the bluff was beautiful. With so many people out on it, there were many times no one could pass, not to mention socially distance, because for much of it there was no place to step aside on the narrow trail. Fortunately most people were thoughtful and friendly about it, stepping off trail when we/they could find a spot to do so that wasn’t right on the edge. Saw two bald eagles soaring over the water, some buffleheads in the tidepool, and various other birds.

Good picnic spots along the way, with glorious views, when you can find an occasional piece of grassy hill off the side of the trail.  Plenty of people doing that.

HIgh tide, so we did not try the beach trail, which looked like something we want to do in the future - will check tide charts next time.
