Trip Report

Artist Point Snowshoe — Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area

Went to snowshoe up to Artist point back in December. It was a gorgeous day up there, hardly a cloud in the sky and the sun was shining. Avalanche danger was low too. The parking lot was PACKED, but we got lucky and got a spot. We had to park along the road because the road ahead was closed. Just walked the rest of the way up the road past the ski area, and got our snowshoes on before setting off. Snow was perfect that day, and the crowds we're too bad for how beautiful a day it was. Trail had people with dogs, so it was do-able with dogs from what I could tell (we didn't have one with us).

It was our first time snowshoeing, being from Florida and Texas - though one of our group is a WA native, and she had been snowshoeing many times in the past. Being our first time though, it was very manageable, and not difficult, minus falling on our butts once or twice and we got good laughs out of it.

For more details and visuals of our trip, check out the video - gives you a good idea of what to expect up at Artist Point in December after a good snow.
