Trip Report

Mailbox Peak — Saturday, Mar. 13, 2021

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
MailboxPeakMar21

We started pretty late on a Saturday afternoon and hiked only the first 1.5 miles of the (new) Mailbox Peak trail and then turned back. The lot was half empty when we arrived at 2pm. No snow at all on this first portion of the trail. There are some little streams and mini water-falls across the trail.

The trail was well-maintained. We came across hikers mostly coming down, and people were courteous. About half were not wearing masks but we passed quickly.

We were originally going for the Twin Falls trail nearby, but that trail was packed with groups of families and the lot was full. So for some more solitude and social distancing, we came to Mailbox Peak instead.

Kyle James on Mailbox Peak

If someone has COVID I can promise you they are not hiking nor doing any type of exercise. I had COVID and the last thing I wanted to do was hike and would have not been capable.

Sick and tired of people talking about mask outside whether people are or are not. Hike without a mask and be free.

If your worried stay home snowflake, I will be the guy you see without a BS mask.

No need to be aggressive

Hi Kyle. There is no need to be aggressive. Nature is for us all to enjoy and appreciate. My original post is to share a description of what I observed - no value judgment nor no confrontation occurred during the hike.

Your experience of COVID does not represent all cases. I hope you are doing better. I'd like to share this WTA post with you. https://www.wta.org/go-outside/social-distancing-hiking-in-the-time-of-coronavirus Whether you'd want to take its suggestions or not is your call.

I agree with Kyle, no one needs to wear a mask and restrict their breathing outside while exercising for your comfort. Stay home if you are at risk.
