Heather Lake on a bluebird morning! This was my annual spring pilgrimage to this beautiful setting.
I parked my car when the potholes were the size of ponds and hiked to the TH.
Being the first one on the trail is special. There were no hikers until I was half way down from the lake. I met one young man wearing flat-soled canvas sneakers and tried to convince him that his shoes would be inadequate for the second mile of the hike. There was also a couple who were equipped well. All three observed COVID precautions.
Waterproof boots and micro spikes are essential. Poles are desirable. I wore gaiters, but did not need them. Mittens kept my hand warm until the temperature rose.
This was an RTRP (Right time, right place) outing.

Early bird gets the worm!! You have a red Subie! I do too, a new little Crosstrek and I really am waffling about taking it on that kind of road. Nice pics of the lake, I love that hike, but only when it's quiet.
