4/16, Friday, Arrived at the Twin Falls trailhead at 10:15am, parking lot was full and people were starting to park along the road. On our way up, the trail was quiet, but was noticeably busier on the way down (12pm & later). When we left, at 2pm, the lot was full and cars were parked along the road, almost up to the fire hydrant.
This trail was a good workout for us! It has a good mix of ascents and descents along the way.
When you get close to the falls, you will cross a small wooden bridge and see a wood railing and stairs on your right. If you think the stairs will tire you or your kids out for good, you can stay on the main trail and go to the bridge and upper falls first. Then, on your way back, you can take the stairs to the lower part of the falls, and afterwards continue downhill towards the trailhead. This worked well for us!
When we set out at 10:30am the first part of the trail was shaded & cool. Little streams run across the trail here and there but today there was only one muddy spot on the trail, near the falls. Between the bench-lookout and the falls we were often in full sun. By 12pm it was very warm.
Be sure to bring your water for this unusually hot spring weekend!
