Trip Report

Northrup Canyon — Sunday, Apr. 18, 2021

Central Washington > Grand Coulee

Wasn't planning on another trip report but here I am!

In between it being a gorgeous day outside and spring time and the page by Spokesman Review on the Northrup Area it was a busy one today which caused me to come here today with a PSA.

Northrup has the primary parking area on either side of the bathroom at the main trailhead which was packed full to the point where people were parking on grasses and shrubs today(Huge nono) and were also parking on the side of the parking area making turning around difficult to top it off hikers were also parking down the side of the road another huge nono in case emergency vehicles need to get up.

But what is this no one is in the overflow parking? Literally when I went to the overflow parking area next door there were ZERO Cars. The overflowing parking area has a trail that connects to the main trail and is the same distance as if you had parked at the primary parking area! PLEASE use the overflow parking area!

Forgive my childish graphics with google maps.

1 - Primary parking area

2 - Secondary/Overflow parking area

The red line signifies where people were parking down the road.

Did you find this trip report helpful?
