Mount Walker — Sunday, Apr. 18, 2021

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal

Arrived around 1030 on a beautiful, sunny Sunday.  Found parking pretty easily, which surprised me (parking spaces were full but still lots of room alongside the road).  Someone had dumped what we think were crawdads at the trailhead. Weird and stinky.  The hike itself is a workout, so glad I had poles.  The shade kept it comfortable and I would love to see it when the rhodies are in bloom.  Not too busy on the trail and people were really good about masking up when passing.  Views at the top were stunning, could see the Olympics as clear as day, and Mt Baker off in the distance at the North Viewpoint.  It was a little hazy at the South Viewpoint, but could still see Mt. Rainier, Seattle, and Eagles flying overhead.  Lingered for a long time at the viewpoints before heading down.  Coming back down, I was really grateful for the poles as the trail, the loose dirt can get slippery.  Great day.
