Did a day trip to artist point.
The road up to the trailhead was completely clear. You want to park at Austin Pass. The trail is right next to the bathrooms up. We went back and forth on if we needed snowshoes or if we could get by with spikes. I would highly recommend snowshoes. Even though you could get away with it, the snow in some parts were really soft already, and I’m sure it’s only gotten softer. Follow the footprints up to the top to artist point, since the trail itself isn’t really defined. I would also recommend having a map just to be safe, but at all times you could see the parking lot just about.
Definitely a beautiful hike. WEAR LOTS OF SUNSCREEN. The sun is ruthless up there!
