There is so much more to see on this trail besides the falls. The river, wildflowers, moss, tree. Take the time to enjoy it all.
We started our hike from the trailhead off of exit 34. The road is paved all the way to the trailhead. One set of toilets is open for use and in good condition.
A 9:00 am start and a not so nice morning meant we had the trail mostly to ourseves. The trail is in good condition with mud in a few spots that is easy to get around. There are a few openings leading to the river.
Pacific Bleading Heart, Trillium, Oregon Grape, Scouler's Corydalis, and Salmonberry are blooming. The Devil's Club is just opening its first leaves. We also saw Skunk Cabbage and a few flowers I don't know the names of.
The falls are gorgeous. Such a big reward for so short a hike. The trail continues past the upper falls but we chose this as our turn around point.
