On Friday, I took the ferry from Fields Landing to Prince Creek. There were a decent amount of other backpackers (10+?) who got off there but I no longer saw them after a few miles. Since I was making decent time, I pushed past my initial camping destination of Moore Point.
Saw a couple snakes and one rattlesnake (who was right by the trail!) that I had to scramble off trail to avoid since it was not planning on moving. In one of the fields in a bush next to the trail, I thought I heard a rattlesnake, but I wasn't sure, and when I took a step closer on the trail, something started growling at me. It was smaller than the bush, so definitely not big foot. I never got to see what it was, but I went back several yards, and again scrambled a bit off trail to avoid upsetting this creature again.
I stayed at Flick Creek, setting up my tent in the shelter which was just amazing. It was only me. The night wasn't as cold as I had anticipated and even left my tent a couple times in just my underwear to pee.
Hiked the remaining 3 miles or so into Stehekin on Saturday. The bike rental was unattended, so I filled out a form, paid and hopped on for a quick trip up to Rainbow Falls. This was the first time I had ridden a bike in probably several years, but it was fine. There were a few uphill sections that wore me out. Once back in town, I hit the public shower, had a delightful meal at the lodge, and headed back home.
