On a Sunday afternoon with unsettled weather, I headed north from Amber Lake. In five miles of hiking north on an old railroad grade through the channeled scablands, I saw two cyclists. On my similar return hike, I saw no other humans. The avian wildlife was abundant, and the passing clouds filled my pictures with wonderful whimsy.
