Trip Report

Thunder Creek — Wednesday, Apr. 28, 2021

North Cascades > North Cascades Highway - Hwy 20

The trail is in fine shape for the first three miles. About half a mile beyond Neve Camp, a Forest Service crew was working on a downed tree and washout--they made great progress while I went on to McAllister, so I had a much easier transit on the way back. Big THANK YOU to the FS crew. After that, the trail was clear for another mile or so, but then I found a section with multiple obstacles across the trail. I picked my way through all of them--none were dangerous, but they did slow me down for between a quarter and a half mile . A few more blowdowns after that section (about 5 miles in) and McAllister but nothing too daunting.

One trail crew member said they'd probably have the trail "logged out" to McAllister by the end of next week, so if you don't like dealing with blowdowns you might wait a couple of weeks.
