Hello fellow hikers!
Eager to see some wildflowers, my pal and I decided on Dog Mountain! This hike took us nearly 3 hours, not including a lunch break at the top.
Trail: We took the "difficult" path (instead of the "more difficult" one) and the trail was in great shape! The trail can be slippery due to the dust and small gravel, but it was only a hassle on the way down. Additionally, the trail is also well marked at the junctions.
Wildflowers: It is superbloom season, friends! The hillside along the last 0.5 mile is covered in an array of wildflowers. It is simply breathtaking. Also, happy to report that all the hikers I encountered stayed on the trail, leaving the wildflowers for all to enjoy, yay :)
Parking: We arrived around 11 am on Monday and the lot was nearly full. Would recommend an earlier start even on weekdays.
Dogs: SO MANY DOGS. It was great and very fitting for this hike :)
Happy Hiking!
