Trip Report

Mount Baldy — Saturday, May. 15, 2021

Snoqualmie Region > Cle Elum Area

Arrived at the parking lot around 8am and there were about 3 other cars parked. The lot is small, maybe only 15ish cars would be able to fit, otherwise plan to walk just a little extra down the road.

The trail that's not covered in snow is in pretty good shape, there were just a few fallen over trees to navigate. Once you're past the super steep part of the trail (you'll know what I mean), there will be consistent snow to the top minus the actual summit. Spikes are definitely recommended and I don't anticipate the snow to melt in the next couple of weeks.

We used AllTrails Pro and downloaded the map beforehand. GPS was really nice to have to stay on the trail as best as possible through the snow. It would be easy to lose the trail in the trees but as long as you are parallel to the ridge line, you should be fine. There are some boot tracks but they're so scattered from people going in one direction, turning around, then heading up a different direction.

We were spoiled with panoramic views on a sunny day! Last year when we did this hike, the wind was terrible but today was just light wind. Sunglasses are a must with so much time spent on the snow. Bugs were out on the lower half of the trail but not too bad, did not need to use any spray.
