Trip Report

Barclay Lake — Thursday, May. 20, 2021

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West

Got to Barclay trailhead at 9am and the parking lot was empty, probably due to the cloudy and rainy weather.

The trail was an easy hike, it looked like there have been a lot of downed trees that feel but they have all been removed from the trail. There was one section of trail that a tree fell and took most of the trail with it, but you can still get by.

A previous report mentioned an avalanche right before the lake. It is all packed snow for now, as it starts to warm up I think it could be challenging to cross. On the other end of this snow field there is a wall of packed snow that you have to climb down. This was also not terrible to get down or back up but once it starts to melt it will be more difficult. I ended up using my spikes to get down it and my dog Grace did fall in a hole going down but she is fine.

All in all we had the lake to ourselves only saw 2 other people on our way back.

Hope this helps happy hiking
