Fun day hike, we started at 11:00am and finished up around 3:30pm. The road getting there had many potholes, and could be difficult for a low clearance car. Trail was in good condition, minus a couple downed trees (easy to climb over however) and some motorbikes we passed twice. We did see Wilbur the banana slug, although he was without his group of friends this time. There were a couple muddy spots on the trail and some small streams, but nothing bad. The rhododendrons were in bloom, and the forest was beautiful. After stopping for lunch, we continued past the high point at the pass, down to Quilcene River. Pretty cool bridge down there, and the elevation change was less than the climb to the pass. All around great day hike with beautiful scenery!
