Wow. I've seen a lot of stunning waterfalls in my day, but Murhut was something else entirely! Now is the time to go visit this particularly lovely slice of the Olympic Peninsula.

Because the trail is so short (only 1.8 miles RT) and the Forest Service road very pot-holey, I'd recommend tagging this on before or after another hike in the area; we visited Murhut after hiking a section of the nearby Duckabush River Trail. I'm so glad we didn't skip it! There is an easy rock-hop from the lower trail to the very base of the falls, where there is an absolutely stunning teal-colored pool that the water just crashes into from above. The falls are surrounded on all sides by giant leafy ferns and mosses...it's just quintessential PNW scenery. On a hot day, I imagine it doesn't get any better than hiking to these falls and sliding your feet into one of the many pools that descend from the falls. Really sweet!

There is a decent amount of vertical in such short mileage, so keep that in mind for everyone in your party. If rock-hopping isn't your thing, the views from the trail itself are still totally worth it.
