Everybody knows about this "trail". There is a log across the route about 500 feet up that will push you up and to the left. Don't go that way. Look for an arrow carved into a log on your right, and go over the log in front of you. Enough people have missed this, including us, that the wrong way is starting to look well travelled. Remember that as difficult as this is many people do it with a full pack, so if it gets beyond ridiculous you are probably off route. The route is now snow free all the way to the lake, but the lake is surrounded by snow. I have never seen a more prolific Calypso bloom.

I'm heading up there soon and want to make sure I don't miss that log you mention. Could you clarify what you mean by 500 ft up? Are you referring to the elevation gain? If so from where? Do you know approximately how far in on the actual trail it is? Thanks!
