Clear Fork Trail — Thursday, Jun. 10, 2021

South Cascades > Goat Rocks
Drainage

This trip was a logout at Clear Fork, at the north edge of the Goat Rocks Wilderness. A four-day BCRT (Backcountry Response Team) organized by WTA.

The forecast was for rain all weekend, but except for some showers at night and some sprinkles during the day, we stayed dry. Those of us who didn't bring rain pants were pleasantly surprised that we didn't need our improvised rain skirts.

We split up into teams, and leapfrogged over each other sawing out blowdowns. We cleared dozens of logs, some huge, and worked so efficiently that we were done earlier than expected.

This team worked especially well together. Everyone worked incredibly hard, and we shared LOTS of laughs.

Gary, Crew Leader Extraordinaire, kept his eye on everyone and prioritized the work. Gary and his assistant crew leaders continuously kept safety on the top of everyone's minds. But we also had BIG fun and got LOTS of work done!

Did you leave any logs for the next crew on 6/30?

Mark & Phil on Clear Fork Trail

Nope! As I remember it, we were able to log and brush the area up to and around Skeeter Camp pretty thoroughly last year. But there was still too much snow to work all the way in to Whiskey Camp. I bet after this winter there'll be a whole new set of blowdowns to clear. I hope there's enough work to do for the next crew on June 30th ... I'll be on that crew!
