We only went 2.5 miles in (1400’ gain) to Shelter Rock Camp. This might be the prettiest hike we have ever taken. The river was in full flow, tumbling down among rocks covered with one hundred colors of green moss. A big variety of wildflowers (coralroot. Trillium, checker lily, Columbine, rhodies, bunch berry, and many more). Trail was in excellent condition, with the exception of one large downed tree that required an army crawl to get under. Much of the main FS road was paved, so the drive in was easier than you might expect.
