Showed up with our 8 and 11 year old kids for a late morning hike and we were in and back out in about 3.5 hours total.
This hike features impressive views up the lower Icicle and equally impressive views to the west toward Mt Howard, Glacier Peak and many other someday destinations.
As mentioned in some other reviews, the trail has some narrow and out sloped sections and this dry spring has caused the trail to become pretty hard packed and slippery in many areas - poles were really helpful.
Several trail “options” pop up in the first mile, take your pick, they all end up at the same place and offer an alternative path for the decent.
Lots of wildlife and wildflowers kept everyone entertained, it’s a great family hike.
