The forest road going up to the trail head was a little rough, very rocky. I felt like I was a jumping bean, mainly because my husbands truck isn’t the best in this type of road. Got to the trailhead around 10am, about 10 cars already there. This trail is very well shaded, had some branch debris and several downed trees, but nothing too difficult to get over. Once you get to the junction at the lake there a few spots where snow is covering the trail going up to bearhead. You stay in the shade for a bit on this trail before about a mile from the top, a little after the second junction you are fully exposed. We had the top to ourselves, beautiful views of Rainer. Still some snow at the top, which our dog loved to cool off. Lovely Saturday hike.
