The trail is clear for the first portion, but then becomes a bit overgrown. This would normally be fine, but much of the overgrowth contains stinging nettles, so avoid them if you can and wear pants. The trail ends at the long bridge over the beaver ponds where a tree has taken out the end of the bridge. We saw several different species of dragonflies, birds, and beautiful views, but no beavers. There are a couple of nice spots along the trail with small pools for (dog) swimming. One of them is a side trail near the trailhead to a geological survey site, which is worth the side trip for a rocky beach along the river.
