Went with three kids, ages 9, 11 and 13. They were able to make it to the falls and back in under 2 1/2 hours, and we took a nice, long break at the falls. I hiked this one with my kids a few years ago when were practically toddlers and it was great trail for them then too. (I remember taking more breaks.)
There's a gradual incline to the falls. It makes for a fairly easy return hike since it's all downhill going back. The trail has intermittent coverage/shade but it's mostly exposed. Something to keep in mind for those hotter days.
The falls were beautiful and there is a nice area next to them where you can relax and enjoy the scenery.
