I LOVE this hike. When you get to the top it is one of the most beautiful views ever. Don't stop once you're at the lake, you have to make the small, slight push up the ridge to get absolute knock-out views of Tahoma.
The road up is pretty wild, full of rocks and holes. I took my Highlander, drove like a grandma, and things were fine. It's the last mile or 2 that are really bad. There weren't many people on this trail, (how often do you get to say that?!) perhaps due to the road, a Friday, or the many downed trees over the trail, so that made things pretty quiet. The hike has flat parts and some inclines, but no steps. We passed a pair of park rangers who apologized for the trail conditions, but all agreed that it was worth it for the solitude.
