Snoqualmie Region > Salmon La Sac/Teanaway
Facing east

Well, we tried. The hike is great if you want to be alone and make your own path. The trail is overtaken by vegetation most of the time. You do not know where you put your feet and sometimes have to wonder which way is which. Your pace will be much slower than usually and that got us at the bottom of the lakes later than we had thought. We lost the trail at the third river crossing and could not find it again. Tried higher, lower, we must have missed it in plain sight. Turned back to TH. So about 9 miles total… but we missed the last mile up and amazing views. Stuck to the river bed.

We only cross 2 folks early on, backpackers. Nobody else.

interestingly, about 3 miles in there are the remnants of an avalanche. A huge pile of snow/içe with trees shattered into it is there, at river level, melting very slowly. Impressive.

Third river…snow cave
Avalanche debris
The trail is ahead

It's thick out there! For what it's worth, I made it up above Park Lakes on Saturday and may know where you lost the trail. Assuming your snow cave picture is of the stream that comes down from Lower Park Lake, the trail was below you. Just when the trail arrives at the edge of the ravine there is a branch downhill to the left that was hidden behind a fallen tree.
