Trip Report

Marmot Pass — Thursday, Jul. 15, 2021

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal

Day hike Thursday morning

road: dirt road with numerous pot holes (any car should be able to navigate if going slowly)

parking/permits: easily able to park in parking lot, need an annual pass/NW forest past

trail: in good condition, only tricky part is climbing to the very top there is some screen and it is steep (I was glad to have poles coming down), several stream crossing but the water was pretty low so easy to cross. Initial section of the trail is along the river and in the forest which was lovely and shaded. The bugs were present here but not bothersome while hiking. Elevation gain is consistent and definitely a work out but the sweeping views are worth it! There were still many wild flowers toward the top (paint brush, lilies, columbine, etc..) and some salmon berries along the way
