We arrived at the trailhead 9am on Saturday morning, and the parking lot was completely full. We parked down the road and were joined with many other cars, eventually taking up both sides of the road. Popular trailhead so parking is a challenge, but our car was okay on the road overnight.
Hiked in a party of 9 friends with two dogs to Pratt lake basin. Wildflowers and foliage blooming along the way, even a few berries. Very shady and cool hike until the ridge line descending to the lake. Plenty of waterfalls and stream crossings that made it easy for the dogs to get water!
The lake basin area was hot so it was nice to sit by the water, and several from our group swam in the water. Few people there fishing. We found a group site no problem, I could see the area getting busy with overnight groups, but there were several sites left open this past weekend. I would say there are about 10 good camping spots. We heard of many more in the lakes beyond the Pratt lake area. The toilet is in good condition and nice to have on popular trail!
Biggest annoyance was the bugs - we had spray and nets but there were lots of little flies that like to swarm and get in the eyes. Got a few bites but we treated our clothes beforehand and it made a big difference.
