Excelsior Pass via Nooksack River by ceddog

We hiked this trail on 7/18/2021 and it was great! The parking lot was nearly full when we arrived shortly before 9:00 am. Lots of bugs, especially at the top and as it got later in the day. I was glad we did not get a late start.. There was no snow on the trail, no big water crossings (a trickling stream or two), and no big obstacles obstructing through trail. My Apple Watch measured 8.8 miles and 3,500 ft elevation gain. I forgot to unpause my hike at one point so maybe closer to 9 mi. This included walking up a big hill at the top to take in some additional views. When you come above the trees for the last half mile or so, don’t forget to stop and look behind you for great views of Baker and the valley.
