Road work to Frying Pan Creek from Park entrance appears to be completed. Had no delay getting into park and traffic was light. Reached parking area at 8:30AM and there were two or three parking stalls left. Temperature was 47F.
Saw just two or three folks on way up to Summerland, on the afternoon return trip there were many more people on their way up.
There are still a few patches of wildflowers to be seen, Avalanche Lillies, Lupine, Paintbrush, Meadowsweet Rose, Columbine, Valerian and more.
Birds seen included Clark's Nutcracker, Dark-eyed Junco, Finch sp. Meadowlark. Mammals seen included marmot, squirrel, chipmunk. Also saw a tadpole eggsack with many dozens of tadpoles nearby.
Overall a fantastic and beautiful day to be in the mountains.
Total elevation gain just a bit shy of the gap was 2410FT and traveling time roundtrip was 4 hours 30 minutes.
