Great views at the top, but you have to pay for them with one of the steepest hikes out there.
Started at 9AM on a warm day, and luckily the first half of the climb is in the shade and was cool. The first part of the trail is very rocky. Afterwards, the trail is steep dirt, and fully exposed to the sun (so start early on a warm day). Made many short rests and got to the peak just before 1130AM. The peak had many flying ants (little annoying but harmless) and also some mosquitos. Otherwise, the rest of the trail had only few bugs. Went till the NW end of the ridge for great views of snow lake. So many mountains are visible from the peak - to name just few, Rainier, Guye peak, Kendall peak, Glacier peak.
The descent was slow, first the steep dirt is a bit slippery, then the rocky/rooty part is like walking down endless stairs. The descent took me 1:45. Also stopped at the waterfall for a refreshing dip, as it was getting very hot after noon.
The entire trip took around 5 hours.
The trail is very steep, so not for beginner hikers. It's not much of a scramble though, I only had to use my hands in very few places, otherwise just a steep walk. Poles were very helpful, without them the descent would have been much harder. The trail is obvious the entire way, but I did check the GPS from time to time as there are few minor splits towards the top.
