Wednesday, July 28, 2021 - Today I joined the crowd hiking to Panhandle Gap in Mount Rainier National Park. I arrived at the Frying Pan Creek Trailhead at the White River Entrance at 7:10 a.m. to find every parking place taken. A few spots left along side the road, but not many.
In 1981 I hiked the Wonderland Trail and Panhandle Gap was my favorite place around the mountain so I wanted to return on the 40th anniversary of that hike.
Today after arriving at the Gap I found the way trail heading off to the east and I wanted to follow that trail and see the meadow country beyond the gap. A very beautiful mountain and hillside was there and I was wondering if it had a name. (See photo below)
As I returned to Summerland folks were actually swimming in the high tarn and back at the parking lot at 2:00 p.m. Now there were empty parking spaces.

Hello, it was very nice chatting with you at Panhandle Gap and enjoying the goats together. Thank you for being such a friendly fellow traveler and leaving us a wonderful note on my windshield. Danielle--one of the "stay-at-home Moms" who parked right behind you and was headed on to Box Canyon.

Your goal to hike & run from the Frying Pan Creek parking lot to Box Canyon and back left me very impressed. How many hours did it take? Total miles? Highlights?
