I don't have anything to add to other reports about this hike other than a confirmation that the bugs remain absolutely terrible. So much so that we opted to turn around after 3 miles and cancel what was going to be an overnight stay. The mosquitos (and, to a lesser extent, flies) were swarming and biting through our clothes. We figured that we'd end up just spending the entire afternoon inside the tent, so we bailed. We did use copious amounts of DEET and nets. Still terrible, especially whenever we stopped moving. Not fun--especially with a 9 and 11 year old.
Otherwise, beautiful hike.
