Spray Park — Monday, Aug. 9, 2021

Mount Rainier Area > NW - Carbon River/Mowich

I love this hike so much. It might be my favorite MRNP hike. I arrived early to just a few parking spaces in the lot—campers and backpackers. The trail starts out easy and steepens the last .8 mile, after the falls. (Coming back down is twice as long, just saying. It's so worth it.) It's three miles to edge of the park, which is another mile-long chain of meadows. I stopped at the snow fields. I don't know where the trail goes from there, but I was complete, so gobsmacked by the beauty. The flowers are past prime, but still significantly colorful. I'm sure others will say something about bugs, but I sprayed up and they didn't bother me. The bees were abuzz in the flowers. The lot was full when I returned (I met many peeps on my way down), and lined along the road all the way to the Tolmie Lookout trail. More photos and words on my blog post.
