Arrived at about 12:45pm on a Sunday. The trailhead wasn't obvious to find - from SR2, turn right then immediately left (there are multiple "No parking" signs, cross the tracks and then right immediately into the forest, almost parallel to the tracks. That part is a little bumpy, but doable with a Tesla M3 if you are careful. When I arrived I saw about 8 cars parked, and another came immediately after me. I think 11-12 cars is the limit, maybe it's possible for 2-3 cars to park along the road.
It was a relatively cool day, but here it was even cooler. The trail winds along the creek, almost overgrown at places, with wet leaves. I found a few salmon berries, but not many. At 3.9 miles the trail forks, the lake is to the right. There is a place that looks like a Japanese tea garden, where I lost the trail for a bit - I turned left where I should have turned right over a short log over the creek, but I found the trail again, along the lake. Here the trail is partially blocked by fallen trees from the avalanche as mentioned in other trip reports, and you have to either climb over or crawl under them.
Soon after arriving at the lake, fog started rolling in and it was gorgeous, giving the scenery a eery atmosphere. I hope the pictures give an idea.
