Trip Report

Scout Patrol Peak — Monday, Aug. 16, 2021

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
Halfway up the last 200 feet "scramble"

I hadn't been to Scout Patrol Peak since Nov 2018 (trip report was logged), so when we were looking for some place to go that would be suitable for a 9 & 12 year old, I suggested Scout Patrol-glad we did it!

First off, no other people. Second, when did the big iron gate at Hansen Creek TH get opened?! Definitely could have driven on and parked a mile or so up from the TH without getting any bush pinstripes. But we didn't. Parked at Hansen Creek like we were supposed to and proceeded up. Gaia (phone) had the one way tally at 2.25 miles and 1,145 feet of vertical. No really good views until 4135ft MSL (~700ft of vert climbed), but the mountain views DO open up rather spectacularly from there on up. Take the logging road until it dead ends (has you staring at Bear Scout Peak across the valley) and then the trail should be noticeable enough as you start climbing to the summit/trees.

We got to the top in short order, gorged on a couple MREs (DOD "meals ready to eat") as that the two young'ns were looking for the novelty of it, and then an easy back down. Worthwhile.

At the top post lunch
Safe enough to let the youngest find the route down to the logging road
Near the bottom of the scramble-note: you do NOT go out into the rock field. You parallel it up to the summit.
