Tolmie Peak Lookout - Eunice Lake — Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021

Mount Rainier Area > NW - Carbon River/Mowich
View from Tolmie Peak Lookout

One last hike before school starts and so glad we chose this one.

Gravel road was rough but passable by probably any type of car. We saw a Porche, non-AWD sedans and Subarus. Took us about 50 mins going up at about 25 mph.

Arrived at the TH at 11AM and was surprised by the number of cars on a Wednesday but plenty of parking to be had along the road by the Tolmie trailhead. Farther down by the campground was packed.

Trail was in good condition but lots of roots and some rocky areas. Only got glimpses through the trees of Mowich Lake but it looked beautiful. Saw a mom and baby deer on our way up and stopped at Eunice Lake for lunch. It was stunning and bug free thanks to a slight breeze. Another deer popped out while we were there too.

Hike to the lookout was steep but not too bad. Again the views along the way were gorgeous. Mt Rainier was mostly visible but the peak was covered by clouds.

Stopped again at Eunice Lake on the way down to dip out toes and rest of the hike back was quick.

Total mileage was just under seven miles with starting at the Tolmie trailhead and took about three and half hours which includes stopping at Eunice Lake for lunch and again on the way back down.
