Mount Rainier Area > NE - Sunrise/White River
Wonderland Trail

After hiking to Forest Lake in the morning, I wanted to get a few more miles in, so I decided to hike to Skyscraper Pass. When I got to Frozen Lake, it seemed like most people were hiking Burroughs or Fremont, so the Wonderland trail was relatively quiet. There were more clouds than there were in the morning, but Rainier was still mostly visible. I was tempted to climb up Skyscraper Peak, but was glad I skipped it on the way back. I always forget how much elevation gain there is between the Berkley Park junction and Frozen Lake. By the time I got back to Sunrise, the mountain was pretty much obscured by smoky haze. Thank you to the two nice women who gave me some sunscreen, which I had forgotten to pack!
