Rock Creek - Red Pass Loop — Saturday, Sep. 11, 2021

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass

The report from last year is 100% the right one to read. Only difference is the long log near the end of the CCT Trail is snapped in the middle.

I also went counter clockwise on the loop - primarily so if the descent of the chute was too sketchy, the turn around was much shorter.  Trail was wet due to rain yesterday, and all the foliage was super wet.  That applied to the Commonwealth  Basin Trail as well as Cascade Crest Trail.

Chute wasn’t as bad as I thought, but certainly slow going to not slide in the middle where the switchbacks had eroded.  Once below on CCT the foliage has taken over.  Certainly a number of downed trees to go over, but nothing too bad.  Also never felt like I lost the trail as it was pretty easy to follow.

Middle fork trail was super smooth and easy.

Best part - I saw no other hikers for 15mi or so.  But when I hit Snow Lake… it was over 100.  Solitude was great until then :)

Great hike.  Could be fun to take a tent, grab a reservation at the hot springs, and turn it into a longer excursion.  But as is, totally doable in a day.

Was the gulley the log crossed pretty easy to go through?

Rip log that thing made me nervous but it was mossy and thick and beautiful

Birb on Rock Creek - Red Pass Loop

Hey, I just did this loop and put a picture of the log in my trip report.. on a dry day I don’t think it is too challenging to climb down the log and into the gully then climb up the other side. But I think it would be pretty rough if the log is wet and it’s muddy in the gully.
