Made the long drive from the Seattle area to take advantage of the fall foliage in the North Cascades. We were not the only ones with that idea. Very busy in the Rainy Pass area. We found it much quieter down a bit at Cutthroat Lake.
The hike is straightforward at about 4 miles round trip. Perfect for the 5 yr old. Fall colors are out and the area around the lake is peppered with brightly colored larches. Even the little one found them interesting and loved spotting them as the “orange crunchy” trees.
Long drive but worth it, make sure to get there early to beat the crowds.
