Amazing hike — glorious fall colors at this time.
I did the alternate route: 2 lessons I learned. There is Austin Pass/Heather Meadows parking that is a great choice. The last leg of uphill climb to get back to Artist Point parking is okay to miss.
Another lesson — both directions are scenic. Both have some uphill and downhill sections, in my opinion, the hike to Artist point lot is the only section that I don’t mind avoiding.
this hike is highly recommended especially in fall.

Your photos that captured Baker, Shuksan, and the fall colors are outstanding. I especially like the one of Herman Saddle. I have done Chain Lakes at least 7 times, but never in the fall.
Your photos have now motivated me to do so.
