Trip Report

Quartz Creek/Lake Blethen, Snoqualmie Lake — Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area

On 10/03/21, A Higher Calling PNW was out searching for Shirley Baumann. Shirley's campsite was found along Quartz Creek Trail in July 2020, but no sign of Shirley has been found.

Driving directions: Follow Middle Fork road all the way down towards Mt Garfield and cross the river using a bridge with bad potholes on both sides. Your sedan should still make it, but conditions will only get worse. At the campgrounds go LEFT (right heads to Dingford) and follow the rest of the road to another bridge. Park here.

The trail is in good shape- a few trees down in places and quite overgrown from a warm summer, but no snow yet.

We hiked up to where camp was found and searched along Quartz Creek. We noted a shortcut up through the switchbacks to Rooster Mountain (also known as the Ark) and alternate ways to the Rainy Mine. Its possible Shirley ventured on a side trail, but anyone in this area should be on the look out for the following items:
- Aged or worn-looking clothing
- A cell phone
- Reading glasses
- Bones

Any items should be noted where they are on trail but DO NOT disturb them. Contact the Sheriff's Office with their location.

Thanks
