Lena Lake is a beautiful hike that is also good to your knees and feet. It is perfect for all levels with very gentle grade all the way, walking on dirt softened by evergreen needles. The trail is always near to Lena Creek, providing for the beautiful sound of water trailing down.
We followed the advice on the WTA guide to go left at the intersection of Upper Lena Lake trail for a better view of the lake. It goes up for another 0.5 miles when you find the next intersection to descend to the lake on your right. This section is a little blown down by a couple of downed trees but it provides a closer look at the creek with some beautiful old growth trees. You will hit the campground and get a full view of the lake.
On Thursday morning, we were the only party on the trail but did find a few parties going up as we were returning.
WTA volunteers have worked hard at repairing one of the bridges of this hike. We are so lucky to count on their help. Thank you very much WTA volunteers for keeping all of us going places.
