Lime Kiln Trail — Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway

Hiked this with a group of friends. Super fun trail for a Halloween hike. We loved taking pictures at the kiln and then went to the riverside loop and had a picnic lunch on the beach. Finished the river trail loop after lunch and did the side trail to see the bridge footings before hiking back.

The trail is easy to follow, but there is a LOT of water on the trail in places. If you aren’t wearing waterproof boots, there is really no way to keep your feet dry through the wet and muddy sections. I was wearing leather hiking boots and made it out with dry feet but folks wearing Gortex fabric hiking boots and trail runners got their feet soaked! Also lots of trees down across the trail, some new from the recent storms, but all were easy to maneuver around.
