Trip Report

Steamboat Rock — Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021

Central Washington > Grand Coulee

We hiked this morning at Sunrise, and it was almost too difficult for us at one point getting up to the top.   It was very steep with loose rocks.  That section was short, and the trail improved as we went.   We saw several Mule Deer, Some Grouse type bird that may have been a Sage Grouse, but I am not a birder.  We scared a flock of ground birds I would say were grouse.  Anyway, the views were great and the trails up top lead all around.   It was a good day to be out.   A very expansive spot up top and worth the effort.

Our dog Izzy a 11-month-old yellow lab did great, and we saw no one else.  We started our hike at the trail head just across from the Dune campground that is part of the State Park.
